LG Serial Number Lookup: Month and Repeating Year Codes
An LG appliance serial number is usually 12 or 13 characters long. The first digit indicates the the manufacture year (repeats every ten years), the second and third digits indicate the month, and the remaining characters identify the individual machine.
For example, split serial number 110KWFL42716 as 1 | 10 | KWFL42716. The year digit 1 can represent 2011 or 2021, and 10 means October. Because the year digit repeats every ten years, we advise you to enter the model number to narrow the years as we have several model numbers in our database with manufacturing date.
For example, for model WT5101HV, the production period identifies 2011, so the manufacture date is October 2011. If the model information does not narrow the result to one year, Appliage shows every possible manufacture date.
The number 0 and the letter O can look similar, so see them carefully before type 0 or O into our tool.

Position 1 provides only the final digit of the year. Positions 2–3 use codes 01 through 12 for January through December. The remaining nine or ten characters identify the individual machine but do not influence its manufacture date.

Year digit in position 1
A single-digit code means the last digit of the year of manufacture. 0 means a year ending in 0, 1 means a year ending in 1, and so on up to 9.
The year digit repeats every ten years. For example, the code 1 can indicate 2011 or 2021. The serial number provides the same month for each possible year, while the model’s production period may identify the correct decade.
Example
LG Serial Number Example 2: 607AAAAAA000
The entered model is LRYXC2606S. The result is July 2006, 2016, or 2026.
- Split the serial number as 6 | 07 | AAAAAA000. The first digit, 6, indicates a year ending in 6. Digits 2–3, 07, indicate July.
- AAAAAA000 represents the unit-identifying characters. They do not influence the manufacture date. This serial number is a format illustration, not a number copied from a real rating plate.
- Appliage can recognize model LRYXC2606S, but the available model information does not give a dated production period that selects one decade. Therefore, the possible dates remain July 2006, July 2016, and July 2026.
Some LG rating plates also print the manufacture date, which can confirm one of the possible years. A dated purchase receipt also rules out any year after the purchase. Because a repeating year digit can point to a year that has not happened yet, Appliage excludes future dates from the result.
The serial number provides the date when the appliance was built. Warranty coverage usually begins from the purchase date, so keep the receipt even after you find the manufacture date. LG televisions, monitors, and phones use different label systems; this page covers household appliances only.
Kenmore 795, 796, and 580 models were built by LG
Sears sold LG built machines under the Kenmore name, and the three digits at the front of a Kenmore model number say who made it. The 795 refrigerators, the 796 dryers, and the 580 dehumidifiers were all built by LG, so their serials follow the LG rule above.
In 2005 a federal recall covered Kenmore 795751 and 795755 refrigerators. The affected serials ran from 405 through 410, which is May through October of a year ending in 4. The recall also records that those refrigerators were built in 2004 and 2005, so the only year left is 2004. The rest of the prefix map is in the Kenmore serial number lookup.
