Speed Queen Serial Number Lookup: Year and Month

A modern Speed Queen residential serial number has ten digits. The first two digits give the year, the next two give the month, and the final six identify the individual machine. For example, split serial number 1505000001 as 15 | 05 | 000001. The date code 1505 means May 2015. The unit sequence 000001 identifies the individual machine but does not influence its manufacture date. Speed Queen used this ten digit format by 1995.

The first two digits give the year, so 95 means 1995 and 99 means 1999. If the serial starts with 94 or a lower number, Appliage cannot find the machine’s age from that serial.

Enter the serial number alone when its first two digits are between 95 and 99 or between 00 and 26, representing manufacture years 1995 through 2026. Adding the model number lets Appliage check the date against a record for that exact machine.

The year code starts with 95 for 1995. Serials from 1998 start with 98, and serials from 2000 start with 00. A serial that starts with 99 falls between them, so it means 1999. If the first two digits are 94 or lower, Appliage cannot find the machine’s age from that serial.

A serial number that contains letters or is not ten digits does not match the modern Speed Queen residential rule. It may belong to another era or market. Older layouts can place the date at the end or use production weeks, so Appliage does not decode them with the modern year-month rule.

Alliance commercial equipment uses a different format. On coin-operated washers and heavy washer-extractor lines, the final two serial letters provide the year and then the month. Therefore, do not apply the residential ten-digit rule to a laundromat machine. It needs the commercial year-letter and month-letter method.

Appliage has records for 687 Speed Queen residential models. Dated production records are available for 98 of them, and 47 more are confirmed to use the ten-digit format. A catalog listing can identify a model, but it cannot prove that a specific appliance uses this date rule. The rating plate must also show a supported ten-digit serial number.

The decoded month is the manufacture date, not the warranty start date. Warranty coverage depends on purchase and registration records. Check the serial number on Speed Queen’s support page for the coverage of a specific machine.

Speed Queen is Alliance Laundry’s home brand

The small print on the rating plate often says Alliance Laundry Systems, the company that builds Speed Queen machines. Seeing both names on one label is normal. Select Alliance Laundry in Appliage and it will use the same residential date rule.
