Bosch Appliance Age: Find the Date from the FD Number

A Bosch rating plate uses three separate identifiers: the E-Nr identifies the appliance model, the four-digit FD number provides the manufacture date, and the optional five-digit Z-Nr identifies the individual unit.

The FD number has two parts. The first two digits give the year, and the final two give the month. For year codes 13 through 99, add 1920; for current year codes 00 through 06, add 2020. For example, split FD9304 as 93 | 04. The calculation 1920 + 93 gives 2013, and 04 means April. If the plate also shows Z-Nr 90007, those five digits are the unit count and do not influence the date.

We advise you to enter the E-Nr as well because its model production period can confirm that the FD date fits the appliance and reveal when the two codes do not match. When the FD number and E-Nr agree, Appliage returns the manufacture month and an estimated age. If dated production information is unavailable for the E-Nr, Appliage marks the FD result as an estimate.

Appliage applies the FD rule to dates from 1933 to today. The first two FD digits give the year, the last two give the month, and the result is one manufacture month once the century is clear. Bosch built its first home appliance in 1933, so anything earlier is impossible.

To find the appliance’s age, enter the four-digit Bosch FD number and the E-Nr. Appliage uses the FD number to calculate the manufacture month and year. The E-Nr does not provide the manufacture date; it identifies the model, and the model’s production period can confirm that the FD result fits that appliance. The Z-Nr is optional because it identifies the individual unit rather than the manufacture date.

The E-Nr contains letters and numbers, such as SGE63E06UC/50. The four-digit FD number appears beside it. A rating-plate example on Bosch’s dishwasher recall site shows E-Nr SGE63E06UC/50 beside FD9303.

FD positions 1–2 provide the year code. Add 1920 to codes 13 through 99, and add 2020 to current-cycle codes 00 through 06; codes 10 through 12 return no date. FD positions 3–4 use 01 through 12 for January through December. The E-Nr identifies the model, and its production period can confirm that the FD result fits that appliance. The optional Z-Nr identifies the individual machine but does not influence its manufacture date.

For codes 13 through 99, Appliage uses the years 1933 through 2019. Codes 10 through 12 point to 1930 through 1932, before Bosch built its first home appliance, so Appliage returns no date for them. For codes 00 through 06, it uses 2020 through 2026. Codes 07 through 09 represent 2027 through 2029, so Appliage excludes them while those years are still in the future. The E-Nr production period provides an additional check that the FD date fits the model.

The FD number provides the date calculation, while the E-Nr checks whether that date fits the model. If Appliage cannot find a dated production period for the E-Nr, it still reads a valid FD month and year from the practical date cycle. The result is then marked as an estimate.

Bosch FD Numbers Appliage Cannot Find the Age

A month value of 00 or 13 through 99 is invalid, so Appliage cannot return a date until you check the rating plate again. If the FD date falls outside the production period for the exact E-Nr revision, the two codes do not agree. Recheck both codes against a photo of the plate.

If you enter a part or accessory number instead of the E-Nr, Appliage cannot identify the appliance model and returns no date. It also rejects an FD reading that would place the manufacture date in the future. Bosch heating and hot-water equipment comes from the separate Bosch Home Comfort division, so it is outside this page.

Thermador and Gaggenau use the same FD code

Thermador and Gaggenau belong to BSH, the company that builds Bosch home appliances, and their rating plates use the same fields. Thermador’s support form asks for the E-Nr and four-digit FD number, while Gaggenau’s product registration asks for the E-Nr, FD number, and Z-Nr. Select the matching brand in Appliage; the FD calculation is the same, but each brand uses its own model list. Therefore, a Bosch E-Nr cannot confirm the production period of a Thermador cooktop.
