Frigidaire Serial Number Lookup: Year and Week Codes
A ten-character Frigidaire serial number has five parts: a maker-or-location code in position 1, a product code in position 2, a year-ending digit in position 3, a two-digit production week in positions 4–5, and a five-digit unit sequence in positions 6–10.
For example, split serial number VF34618193 as V | F | 3 | 46 | 18193. V identifies the maker or location, F identifies a range, 3 indicates a year ending in 3, and 46 is the production week. The final five digits identify the individual machine. The year digit repeats every ten years, so 3 can point to more than one decade.
We advise you to enter the model number as well because Appliage can compare the model and serial range with dated production information. For model FCRE3052BW, this comparison identifies production week 46 of 2023 (Estimated). If the available information does not identify one decade, Appliage shows every possible date.
Appliage decodes this ten-character layout for dates from 1997 to today. The year digit in position 3 and the week in positions 4–5 come back as a list of possible production-week dates from 1997 on, and dated model information can narrow the list to one year.

The year-ending digit repeats every ten years. For example, 3 may indicate 2003, 2013, or 2023. The production-week number remains the same for each possible decade, so the model and dated production information are needed to select one year.
Frigidaire Serial Number Example: VF71205887
The entered model is FGF333. Split the serial number as V | F | 7 | 12 | 05887. V identifies the maker or location, F identifies a range, 7 is the year-ending digit, and 12 is the production week. The final five digits, 05887, identify the individual machine but do not influence its manufacture date. FGF333 is not in our model library, so Appliage shows every date the code can mean: production week 12 of 1997, 2007, or 2017 (Candidates). It also shows the December 1997 federal recall, CPSC 98-042, which lists FGF333 gas ranges with serial numbers from VF71205887 to VF73713122 and says they sold from June to October 1997. A recall record is not a manufacture date, so the tool keeps it as a notice instead of picking a year. You can settle it yourself: a range sold in 1997 cannot be a 2007 or 2017 unit, so this one was made in production week 12 of 1997.
Frigidaire Serial Numbers Appliage Cannot Find the Age
The supported date range begins in 1997. A serial number with 8 in the year position can indicate 1998, 2008, or 2018, but Appliage does not use the same digit to assign a date before 1997.
Frigidaire also produced older appliances under General Motors and White Consolidated Industries. Their plates fall outside the ten-character rules on this page. Licensed compact refrigerators and window air conditioners may use serial numbers with a different length, so this date coding method does not apply to them.
A repeating year digit can also produce a candidate whose production week has not occurred yet. Appliage excludes that future date and shows only dates that could already have happened.
Why Kelvinator, Gibson, and Kenmore plates match this code
Electrolux bought White Consolidated Industries in 1986, which put Frigidaire, Kelvinator, Gibson, White-Westinghouse, and Tappan under one owner. A 2009 washer recall lists Kelvinator and White-Westinghouse models beside Frigidaire ones in a single XC serial range, and the 1997 range notice above groups Gibson and Tappan the same way.
Sears sold the same machines as Kenmore. A Kenmore model number that starts with 253, 417, 587, or 790 was built by Frigidaire or Electrolux, and a Canadian recall lists Kenmore Elite 790 ranges alongside Frigidaire VF serials. The Kenmore serial number lookup shows which maker each prefix points to.
You read a Frigidaire Gallery or Professional plate exactly like a plain Frigidaire one, and Electrolux badged machines, including the ICON line, use the same ten character layout. Canada’s energy efficiency registry can confirm what many Electrolux models are, but it never says when a unit was built. Modern Westinghouse televisions and electronics are licensed products from a separate business, so this page does not cover them.
